Linda and Terri of Star Amazing Grace Performance Horses have worked wonders with my horse Mason. They have developed Mason into a confident and willing horse who truly loves the sport of barrel racing and most importantly, a horse that I enjoy!

The training philosophy they have developed and embraced encompasses a broad understanding and respect of horses in general. They stress trust, personal space and understanding. They assess each horse daily to determine how its training should be modified. Linda and Terri do not run a cookie cutter training operation but taper their program around each horse and their specific needs. A great deal of care is also taken to identify and respect individual differences of each horse in their training barn.

The riding instruction and guidance that I have received both at home and at barrel races has provided me with the tools necessary to compete successfully and with independence. Terri is a very patient and supportive instructor, with her in my corner I know that I can accomplish just about anything!

Lastly, the level of care that my horse has received is above any standard that I could have imagined. They see to every detail and monitor his health and well being as if Mason were their own.

Been working with a Parelli professional for the past 6 months, and have been taking some natural horsemanship lessons with him. I began working with Terri seven years ago. Apart from my occasional ride down the road, I didn't have much experience as a rider. Terri has worked with me and my horses. She has taught me horsemanship skills, tack, trailering, barrel racing, pole bending and more. Terri is a natural teacher who works hard to understand and communicate with rider and horses.

This summer we under took a project of getting horses places in home for someone who was passing with cancer. The owner was concerned for one horse in particular, Okie. Okie had been abused as a youngster and would not load in a trailer without sedation. We had tried to load Okie ourselves without success. I asked Terri to come with us on the last trip to try for the last time. Terri worked hard with Okie to quickly build understanding and gain trust. In a short time, without the use of sedation, Terri had her loaded not just once but several times. It was amazing to watch!

Terri has already trained three horses for me and will this spring train my two year old, give a refresher to my barrel horse and provide on going lessons for me. Terri's instructions and training work! She provides me with great support even during the barrel races and this summer I won my first buckle in the novice rider class and a little money along the way.

As an educator, I work with teachers of all levels of experience. Terri is a master teacher of both horse and rider!

I have known Linda for years. Last spring she became my equine massage therapist. She knows horses and the demands of barrel racing well. Linda massages my horse before our barrel races, as a result his tensions are released and he is able to perform his best! Additionally, one of my horses with special muscular needs that resulted from an injury also receives massage. The massage keeps him moving and relaxed.

Linda provides me with excellent feedback and communicates potential problems and solutions to the problems. She responds to my questions in terms I can understand. Linda knows equine needs and exceeds my expectations. She is an essential member of my horse care team.

When I sent my six year old gelding, Cisco to Terri to be trained, she actually inherited two beginners. I had just retired and both my horse and myself had only been trail riders. As she trained Cisco, I also took lessons on one of her horses. When I got Cisco back, he was a well trained, highly skilled horse ready to work with me at my level and beyond. She taught him all of the basics needed for barrel racing and gave him a solid foundations on which we could build our skills.

She helped me get pass my fear of going faster than a slow trot, and the confidence and skills she instilled in my horses, in turn, gave me confidence as a rider. I've taken him to several clinics and have ridden him in exhibition races. Terri continues to be my sounding board when I have questions and willingly "tunes" on Cisco if I can't seem to make something work. She once told me, I didn't "break" my horse when I couldn't' get him to do something, She'd "tweeked" him and we were on the right track again.

I highly recommend Terri if you need a solid horse with a good foundation. She was great for both my horse and myself.

Terri Kinney with Star Amazing Grace is an exceptional trainer. I have had four of my horses with her, two young horses for training and two of my seasoned barrel racing horses for tune ups. She emphasizes suppleness and flexibility in the horses. With my seasoned horses I found that after a little time with Terri they became awesome barrel racers again. The main problem was stiffness which in turn wouldn’t allow them to turn and function properly. With my two young horses she gave them an awesome foundation. They have respect for the handler and/or rider. She does a lot of ground work before ever getting on them to get this respect and then continues that as she rides them. Not only are they very respectful of you, they are very supple and flexible, which makes them much easier to ride. I would definitely recommend Terri to anyone seeking any training or any tune ups. She works wonders.

I first met Terri when I attended one of her clinics a few years back. She is a very knowledgeable and patient teacher. Terri has since trained two of my horses for barrels. Not only that but she took me, a virtual beginner and taught me along the way with my horses so we would become a good team. Both of the horses that Terri trained for me are soft, supple and responsive.

I would recommend that anyone could take their horse to Terri and gain the knowledge and horsemanship needed to compete to the best of their and their horse's ability.

My dream has always been to become a competitive barrel racer. Unfortunately, I did not have the knowledge or experience to reach this dream on my own. Then I found the web advertisement for Star Amazing Grace Performance Horses and a very talented trainer, Terri Kinney.

Terri has a real gift with horses. She is the only trainer that I have worked who was able to explain what she was asking from the horse and why in a way that I could understand. About a year ago Terri linked me with a three year old futurity prospect, “Diesel”. Terri has been working with me and Diesel for over a year. During this time Terri has taught me that that a good barrel horse and rider must start with a solid training foundation. She has helped me build confidence in my riding, my horse, and most importantly myself. When I come out for lessons Terri is always extremely generous with her time, never leaving me feeling rushed. When I began doing exhibitions on Diesel, Terri was there for tips and support.

Without a doubt along with Terri’s knowledge, her devotion and enthusiasm for the sport of barrel racing makes her among one of the best trainers in the industry. Thanks Terri for helping to make my dream come true.

I came to Terri about 5 years ago with what I call a “train wreck.” My hyper paint horse named “Howie” and I were a mess. We couldn’t enter the gate with out rearing and the pattern was a disaster. Something had to give and Terri was our last hope. I sent Howie to Terri for what was to be our last chance. From the moment Terri and I spoke about Howie, I knew she understood us. She kept saying “he is just misunderstood and frustrated.” She wasn’t ready to give up on us.

After 90 days I picked up a wonderful horse that I wouldn’t trade for anything. He is sweet and gentle. The support that we received even after the training was complete has been a blessing. Linda and Terri have become great friends and I couldn’t imagine doing any of this with out them. They are always encouraging and supportive. I look forward to everyday with my horse because of them. I now have a very solid horse that gives me the same run each and every time.

I also worked with Terri for two years and can attest to her craft. I have seen her ride anything from unruly colts to misunderstood adolescences. I have seen her take dangerous horses and completely turn them around. We all know what it is like when you have a horse you love but, are not getting a long with. I have also seen her take mediocre horses and make them faster and more consistent. Before you give up, give Terri a call. She will give you honesty and hope.

As Elaine and I drove home from the barrel race Sunday afternoon, I had a huge "ah-ha" about what I had seen over the course of the last three days at the barrel race at The Ranch. I had the opportunity to watch mainly all of the novice horse, novice rider, and some of the open each day. As I told Elaine, I was truly amazed to note the difference in the individuals and their horses that you have had or are currently continuing to teach/coach in barrel racing. The horses are soft, work in cadence, have top notch, controlled patterns, and responsive to the riders. Within the comparison group, who I call "the others", there were lots of out of control horses who were charging the barrels, running through the bit, and often hardly getting around 3 barrels. I saw lots of really strong handed folks jerking and pulling on their horses' heads. And consequently, many of their horses do not look like they really like the torture of barrel racing.
Just wanted to let you know what I had concluded from having the opportunity of watching so many barrel racers this weekend. Also, I want to thank both of you for having learned so much during the last three summers. It has been not only fun but so rewarding to be learning from the best. We are very fortunate to have you in the area. For the sake of so many good horses and riders, keep up the good work! I have lots more I need to learn so hope you are planning on being around for many years to come :) Thanks again.
